Aromatherapy has been around for so long no one seems to truly know where it all began. Nearly every advanced civilization including Egypt, China, India, and Rome. Pure extracts from botanical roots have been used to ease our pains and minds for centuries. The key element is that you use essential oils that are not altered in any way.

We are continuing with our series of reviews of aromatherapy companies taking a close look at a popular organization. In this piece, we look at Rocky Mountain Essential Oils reviews about how their product holds up to the competition.

Who Is Rocky Mountain Oils?

Rocky Mountain Oils Logo

This company got their start in 2004 by a group of people who love essential oils and wanted to spread the good news, and product, to the world. They decided that since health and wellness are important to all, they wanted to bring us a natural way to achieve this universal goal. Starting with an idea, they have grown to be one of the premier direct-to-consumer essential oil companies in the world.

What Is Their Promise?

As producers and distributors of extracts that are supposed to make you healthy by using them via inhalation, consuming, or putting them on your skin, Rocky Mountain Oils (RMO) are adamant about offering safe products for your diffuser. If you’ve been following our series of pieces on different aromatherapy companies than you know each of them has a guide of ethics they exhibit to us in creative ways.

RMO offers uts buyers the S.A.A.F.E. Promise™, which ensures its consumers a product that is natural and pure. This goes for both their singles that help with migraine support and nerve repair  and blends like Tummy Rub.

S.A.A.F.E. Promise

Each of the letters in this company’s acronym stands for an assurance they give to buyers.

Satisfaction Guaranteed

As you can tell, customer fulfillment is number one on the priority list of RMO. It’s the first letter in their pledge. They are so sure of the purity of their product they promise 100 percent customer satisfaction.

Authentic

Guaranteeing that the products they sell are pure isn’t enough and RMO knows that, which is why there are steps taken to ensure their promise is kept.

  • Sourcing

This company vets their suppliers before agreeing to work with them but, once they do, they foster that kinship over time to create a strong working relationship.

  • The Sampling Process

After the extraction process, hundreds of samples are set out for the industry standard, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) testing. Purity is key, as we all know, so if they find any of the product to be adulterated with fillers, synthetics, diluents, or contaminants they reject it. If the batch passes the test then they move on to the next step.

MO conducts a third-party GC/MS at their labs for the same batch. While there, the oils move onto the next letter of the acronym.

Analysis

When the batch moves to their labs, several samples move through the tests below.

GC/MS

Quality Control Laboratory medicine. Chromatograph operation. Bottles check on the quality of the suspension. Vials on autosampler of gas chromatography-mass spectrophotometer. Ampoules are chemical control suspension in the gas chromatograph. Gas chromatograph operation.

While the batch has already gone through this test, RMO does it again to ensure purity. There is a reason why this type of testing is standard in the industry. It reveals the compounds in each oil and how much is present. You can go to their website and look up the batch on any bottle you purchase.

  • Gas Chromatography

This test is what tells us how much of the compounds are in each batch. Samples are vaporized and two phases are studied; the stationary phase and the mobile phase.

  • Mass Spectrometry

The mass-to-charge ratio is measured in this test. That also gives chemists an idea of how many molecules are in each batch and the type. To do this they ionize the sample and the ions are separated by mass and charge.

Organoleptic

There is something to trusting human senses, which is what this test involves. RMO has an in-house chemist who is in charge of this test. She has to look at the extract, feel the oil, smell it, and use her expertise to ensure they are authentic before they are put into a little brown bottle.

Refractive Index (RI)

Light is a great tool and in this test, they use it to find what speed it moves through an essential oil and then given a number. Oils that have had adulterants added to it will not show the same RI number of pure oil.

Free Of Adulterants

After all the testing they put their batches through, you should be able to buy a bottle of oil, or a blend, from this company and know it is a pure extract of that botanical. The third-party testing they put samples through establishes an immaculate product.

Effective & Pure

This last letter in the acronym reiterates what we have already learned about the products this company sells. They are 100 percent pure and they guarantee that via the testing process. Once they pass through, the oils are bottles, sealed, labeled, and ready to send to consumers.

Direct-to-Consumer Sales

As you know, there are a few essential oil companies that require you to commit to a monthly membership via a multi-level-marketing sales approach. RMO eliminates that by selling their products online via their website. I just purchased a Root Chakra Blend and checked out with no problem.

Oil’s Club

Club Oilty Rewards Program

They aren’t going to let an opportunity pass them by either, which is why there are memberships available to earn points, which is what this club is about. I signed up and have points in my queue for my first purchase, liking their Facebook page, and following them on Instagram.

Other Options

Further investigation found that they have an Affiliate Program, which is designed for influencers to sell their products, and they also offer a Wholesale Program, which is a bit like the multi-level marketing model other companies use.  While some of us have no interest in selling essential oils to our friends and family, there are some that find the prospect exciting.

The club and programs come with their own unique set of rules and rewards, which are listed on their website.

They Recycle

RMO has a dedication to pure products that come from botanicals gifted to us by the Earth so, in turn, they do what they can to make sure the Earth is being protected so that we can continue to reap the benefits.

Also, they are the first in the industry to start a Bottle Recycling Program, where they will take back your old bottles and send them to an authorized recycling center near them.

Tohi

Tohi Natural Wellness Kit

A new line outside of essential oils has been started by RMO. They offer supplements, skin care products, and household cleaners. They are all created using natural, plant-based materials and are toxin-free.

What They Offer With This Kit

When you purchase this kit you get four 15 ml bottles of popular aromatherapy scents.

Lavender Bulgaria

This oil is the scent that has enticed many people into the world of essential oils.

Lemon

A refreshing scent, this oil is wonderful for surface cleaning.

Peppermint

This oil comes with a world of benefits and works great with blends.

Tea Tree

Native to Australia, this oil is also a powerful health advocate.

Return Policy

RMO offers its consumers a full refund if returned within 90 days of purchase. You need to contact them first to set it up. You should also contact the company if you want to return something that’s passed the 90-day limit.

What People Are Saying

People seem to love the essential oils they received and found the starter kit to be a wonderful way to break into the world of aromatherapy. There were complaints about incomplete orders and caps that weren’t secure. That said, I had an issue with their website and called to fix it.

My Experience

When I purchased my Root Chakra Blend I signed up for a membership account to get the rewards offered. Their website glitched and didn’t sign me up but processed my order. So I called because I wanted my points. The man who answered the phone was pleasant and signed up so I could get my points.

I had to call back because the link he sent didn’t work either. To be honest, I don’t know if this was an issue with their system or my lack of knowledge. Still, I called again and spoke to the same guy. He helped me again and remained on the phone until I was signed in and received my points.

Technical issues will happen. Great customer service is a gift and Spencer, who works at RMO has it. I could hear his smile over the phone.

Conclusion

Pure oils can be purchased from a lot of distributors. You have to personally try them to make sure they are up to standard. RMO has not disappointed when it comes to purity. I’ve already written about their amazing customer service skill, so now the ball is in your court.

Why not give them a try? You can conduct your own immune strength comparison with new RMO products and the ones you have in your collection at home. If you found this article useful please share it or leave us a comment in the section provided below.
